As you will already know, under the Licensing Act 2003, licensees
have a legal reponsibility to make sure that children
remain safe at their premises and it is important that
adequate safety measures are in place for the protection
of children. Most licensees will, by now, have done
a risk assessment to identify what the potential risks
could be to children's safety while on their premises.
One of the risks often identified is thst sometimes,
when adults / parents bring children on to the premises,
they fail to supervise them adequately - this can
put children at risk of accidental, physical and other
types of harm and it can also cause problems for the
licensee.
To support licensees to make sure that children are
adequately supervised on licensed premises, we have
produced a 'Children's Charter', which aims to get
the message across to adults / children that they
must co-operate with licensees to keep children safe.
As part of a publicity campaign to remind adults
of their responsibilities to supervise children on
licensed premises and to promote some 'keep safe house
rules' two posters have been produced and will shortly
be circulated to licensed premises. You can download
copies of the posters from this site.
