People United Against Crime research project provides a better understanding of business crime

People United Against Crime completed a report commissioned by Yorkshire Forward that detailed the impact crime is having on economic regeneration in South Yorkshire.

The findings mean the police, community safety partnerships and other agencies have a deeper understanding of crime issues affecting business.

There is now a much clearer picture of the amount of crime being committed, levels of repeat victimisation, business crime hotspots and specific detail of the types of crime being committed.

During the spring and summer of the year the findings of the report were disseminated to a wide range of agencies with the potential to assist in tackling crime against business.

One recommendation emerging from the report, was to establish a dedicated Business Crime Agency servicing the entire county. The proposed agency later developed into the Business Crime Reduction Centre.
